Episode 78: The Black Rising Part 8: Battle onboard the Comet

Last time on Sonic X-Treme, the Freedom Fighters have rescue their friends, Bunnie and Antoine from General Axtius, but he brought the ship down destroying part of Central City. Shadow and Rouge returned to GUN HQ to get the Chaos Emeralds away from the Black Arms, but too late as Black Doom and Eclipse ambushed the two to steal the Emeralds and kidnap Rouge. Now Shadow is now the floor upset now his love is kidnapped by the monsters who made him.

Sonic and company arrived at the vault and shocked to see Shadow beaten.

Sonic: "Shadow, what happened? And where's Rouge?"

Shadow sobbed in response, not speaking properly as tears fell from his face. Sonic and Sally glanced at each other, before approaching the dark hedgehog and crouching down to his side. Sonic patted Shadow's back gently, making him look up at the two, both of whom had soft looks on their faces.

Sally: Shadow, what happened? (She asked softly)

Shadow cleared his throat but the tears still fell as he spoke.

Shadow: (sniffling) Black Doom and Eclipse...they came and attacked me and Rouge...Black Doom was too powerful...and Eclipse beaten up Rouge to the point she was...unconscious...they took her and the Emeralds...

Sally: Oh my goodness (she said as her eyes widened)

Sonic: Did they say anything as they left?

Shadow: Black Doom...told me to get the rest of the Chaos Emeralds before his army does...if I didn't, then he would have Rouge killed...

The heroes gasped at this, then they began speaking among each other. Sonic and Sally helped Shadow up to his feet, giving him firm looks.

Sonic: We'll help you get them, Shadow, and we'll be up there to help you rescue Rouge.

Sally: And we'll do it together. All of us.

Shadow: Thank you...

Tails had a thoughtful look on his face, which Fiona noticed.

Fiona: What is it, Tails?

Tails: It's just...even if you did hand over the emeralds, you think Black Doom will let Rouge go? He'll have a horde of troopers up there ready to shoot you guys on sight.

Fiona: Good point, and we don't know what that comet exactly has. For all we know, it could have platforms that'll drop beneath your feet, gases in there, built in lasers.

Tails: Exactly, Fiona...I'm thinking of something, but we'll need time.

Sonic: We'll give you that time, bro. Me, Shadow, Sal and Emerl will go Emerald searching while you figure something out.

Tails: Thanks Sonic.

Sonic gave Tails a thumbs up, before he and Sally helped Shadow out of the vault, with Emerl and Nicole following closely...

Meanwhile, on the Black Comet, Eclipse and Black Doom returned, with Eclipse carrying the unconscious Rouge.

Black Doom: (holds the three Chaos Emeralds in his claws) "Soon, the ritual will come at dawn and Mobius will be another of our conquered planets..."

Eclipse: "Yes father, and I'll enjoy the slaugher of the fallen heroes we'll finish. I'll be in the lab, having "fun" with my prisoner..."

Then Eclipse left with Rouge in tow and takes her to the lab, then he webs her up in a cocoon, to a pillar as the bat starts to wake up.

Rouge: (gasps) "You!"

Eclipse: "Enjoyed your beauty sleep sweetheart?"

Rouge struggled and glared at the darkling.

Rouge: Where am I? And where's Shadow!?

Eclipse trails his fingers up her neck and rested them on her chin, making the bat shiver in fear and disgust. Eclipse smirked as he looked at her.

Eclipse: Your on our brilliant vessel, the Black Comet. As for my brother, let's just say my father gave him a hard beating.

Rouge: N-No!

Eclipse: Oh yes! (He grinned)

He rubbed his nose against her own and Rouge gulped nervously as Eclipse began to web over her breastplate.

Eclipse: Thing is, my father has sent him on a treasure hunt to find the rest of the Chaos Emeralds. However,if Shadow fails, you'll be meat for his offspring...but I could persuade him to have you as my bride, and third in command of my Black Arms group.

Rouge's eyes widened and she gasped as Eclipse slithered his snake tongue over her cheek, then Eclipse pressed his mouth closer to hers...then she spat on him, making him fall back a bit, though he gripped hold of the pillar. He looked up at Rouge and chuckled as he wiped the spit off.

Eclipse: Not bad. That's something I could get used to...though I maybe a little busy.

Rouge: Busy with what!?

He crawled back up at Rouge and fired another lot of sleep gas in her face. Rouge groaned and fell unconscious as Eclipse webbed her up to her mouth.

Eclipse: Sleep now, beautiful. I have work to do (he smirked)

Meanwhile, with Axitus, he returned to the Black Comet, arriving in a chamber with Black Terror and Jasmine.

Jasmine: "Axtius! You're okay!"

Black Terror: "Your mission is a failure too?"

Axtius: "Exactly... But I brought the battleship down with the heroes inside. Luckily they won't a bother."

Jasmine: "But is this war a bother too?"

Axtius: "What you mean?"

Black Terror: "What you think?! Our soldiers are being wiped out and we all nearly die due to Black Doom's foolish choice!"

Jasmine: "Also, while I fought Blaze, I've saw a vision of something called the Solaris Project..." *

Axitus: Solaris Project? Does this involve who we think it is?

Jasmine: Yes, exactly...if Black Doom opens his eyes, maybe we can divert or change this invasion plan. Just find one instead of seven, get a sceptre, then that's it.

Axitus: Seems interesting...

However, Black Terror slammed his fist into the wall beside him, making Axitus and Jasmine gasp and look at him. The alien bat had a burning look in his eyes, that of anger and darkness. He then looked at Axitus.

Black Terror: Didn't you hear yourself earlier? This war is pointless.

Jasmine: But-

Black Terror: No buts, Jasmine. How many of your forces did you lose to this Blaze?

Jasmine: Well...quite a lot...

Black Terror: I thought so...and Axitus, you claim you've wiped out these Freedom Fighters? My own eye says different.

Another eye, resembling Doom's, comes by and projects a hologram, showing the Freedom Fighters running to GUN base. Axitus gasped.

Axitus: Th-They survived!? But how!?

Black Terror: I told you two again and again, these Mobians are too powerful for us. We have to leave. The moment they board the comet, we are wiped out.

Axtius and Jasmine look at each other in concern and then at Black Terror.

Axtius: "Guess there's no choice but to evade..."

Back on Mobius, Sonic, Sally, Shadow and Emerl arrived at the Dark Swamp, the former hideout of one of their dangerous enemies, Talon the Owl. Shadow sense a Chaos Emerald at the enterance of the cave.

Sonic: "Been a while since we brought down that owl head Talon." **

Shadow: "Yes, but the Chaos Emerald is nearby..."

The four walked inside and they spot some Talon Soldiers holding the Red Emerald and some blueprints.

Talon Soldier 1: "You heard about that alien invasion?"

Talon Soldier 2: "Yeah, but the doctor said we have to wait until the invasion is over. He has a big plan for revenge."

Sonic: "Sorry to disappoint buds, but we need that Emerald!"

The soldiers turned and face the heroes.

Talon Soldier 1: "It's the blasted Hedgehog, along with the Princess, Gizoid and Ultimate Lifeform!"

Emerl: Yup, but we don't really have time to fight you guys!

Sally: Exactly.

Sally slammed her pole in the ground and kicked one trooper in the face, slamming him into the wall. Sonic and Shadow spin dashed the other two into the walls behind them, while Emerl blasted the last one with a stun blast. Shadow picked up the red Chaos Emerald.

Emerl: Swift and easy.

Sonic: Too right too, Emerl.

Sally: C'mon guys, we can't stick around for long. This doctor will notice something is up, and we don't have time to fight him.

Sonic: Good point, Sal. Let's go guys.

They soon left the Dark Swamp via Warp Ring. Once they left, however, another soldier ran by and saw the unconscious soldiers.

Talon Soldier: Oh great...bet it was them Freedom Fighters. Better go to Vlad.

With Vlad, he was in the lab with a pair of goggles over his eyes as he screed in something, with a red orb contained in a glass behind him. Soon, the soldier burst through the door, looking at Vlad.

Talon Soldier: "Doctor! The Freedom Fighters attacked our troops and stole the Emerald you had!"

Vlad: "Blast! They might've need it to stop the Black Arms invasion..."

Talon Soldier: "Should we go after them?"

Vlad: "No, let them go for now, by the time the invasion is over, my secret weapon will be complete and we'll free Master Talon from Prison! Ha Ha Ha Ha!"

Then the heroes reappeared at another location, searching for another Emerald.

Sonic: "Okay, now where's the next Emerald?"

Sally taps his shoulder and smiles as she points to Knothole, not far away.

Sally: Quite close to home.

Sonic: Sweet! (He grinned) I wonder how they've been doing?

Sally: Let's go and see.

The foursome headed over to Knothole, looking for the next Emerald. As they approached Knothole, Tails radioed the heroes.

Tails: Hey, guys, is Emerl there? And how's the search going?

Sonic: Emerl is right beside us, buddy, and we're at Knothole. We've found one Emerald and we're going after another. What do ya need Emerl for?

Tails: Well, it's if he's going to come on the comet with us.

Emerl: I'm not sure, Tails. I may assist the soldiers in defeating the Black Arms troops that are laying heavy artillery on the GUN base. Though Shard maybe up for going on the comet.

Tails: "Good idea."

Sonic: "We'll talk later buddy. We have Emeralds to get. Over and out."

The heroes got to Knothole and they see Amy and Anna.

Sally: "Hey girls."

Amy: "Sally, how's the fight going?"

Sally: "Very tough. Rouge's been kidnapped by the Black Arms and we have to find the remaining Chaos Emeralds to save her. We got one and Black Doom has three."

Amy: Ouch, that does sound tough. Though I think Tails' uncle has an Emerald.

Anna: And I think I saw one not far away. By the entrance I think. I'll show you, Sally. Amy, take Sonic, Shadow and Emerl to Merlin.

Amy: On it, girl (she winked)

Amy led Sonic, Shadow and Emerl to Merlin while Sally was led to the entrance by Anna. They found the Emerald sat there. Sally picked it up and gave Anna a smile.

Sally: Thanks Anna.

Anna: Not a problem, Sally (she smiled in return)

With Merlin, he was talking to the three hedgehogs and the Gizoid.

Merlin: "So, you need the Emerald I have to rescue Shadow's friend and bring down the Black Arms..."

Shadow: "Exactly."

Merlin: "Okay then Shadow." (hands him the yellow Emerald) "Good luck, but remember Ultimate Lifeform, in the future you, Sonic, the Chosen One, and Guardian will face a much evil foe greater than Robotnik, Talon, Enerjak and the Black Arms combine but you will gain a new ally in the fight..."

Sonic: "Okay Merlin. Thanks for the heads up."

Then Sally and Anna returned with the cyan Emerald in hand.

Sally: "There's three Emeralds for us. Thanks Anna."

Anna: Not a prob (she smiled)

Emerl then came over with Shard.

Emerl: Just told Shard what Tails wants him to do. He's up for it.

Shard: Anything go help you guys with this. How many more Emeralds do we need now?

Sonic: Now just one more. Lead the way, Shadow.

Shadow: On it.

They opened the Warp Ring and went through it, waving goodbye to Anna, Amy and Merlin.

Anna: "Let's hope they can find the last Emerald."

Amy: "Yeah and save Rouge..."

Then the heroes arrived at next area, where Shadow sense the last Emerald nearly.

Shadow: (points) "There!"

The heroes looked and spots the white Emerald on a rock.

Sonic: "Sweet! Now we have four Chaos Emeralds!"

Sally: "Now let's return to GUN HQ and plan our attack."

Sonic: Knowing Tails, he's probably planned it all out.

Sally: Maybe. Let's go.

With that, they entered their Warp Ring and arrived at GUN HQ, where they found Tails talking to Fiona, Nicole, and the others, with several gas masks on a nearby table. When they saw the group returned, they smiled.

Tails: Nice to see ya, guys. Did it go well?

Sonic: Sure did, bro. And we've got all of the ones on Mobius.

Tails: Sweet (he smiled) how was Knothole though?

Fiona: Yeah, was mom and Anna okay?

Sally: I saw your mom being returned to the village with the other villagers, and Anna is okay, though she's had some tears in her outfit. It looks like they gotten attacked by the Black Arms, but fought them off.

Fiona smiled at this.

Fiona: That's good. Hope everyone else is alright.

Tails held her hand and gave her a smile, glad she was smiling and that everyone in Knothole was okay.

Shadow went to Tails, looking nervous.

Shadow: Tell me you've thought your plan out.

Tails: I have, and I've discussed it with the others already. So far, you, me, Sonic and Shard are going on the comet. Elias may come as well to give us more firepower.

Shadow: What about the others?

Fiona: I'm staying here to tend to the injured, but Bunnie and Antoine are gonna help Nicole and Emerl battle the Black a Arms outside. So it's down to what Sally is doing.

Sally: "I'll assist you in helping the injured, Fiona."

Fiona: "Thanks."

Sonic: "Okay then, let's do it to it!"

Others: "Yeah!"

Back on the Black Comet, Black Doom sense that Shadow has the remaining Chaos Emeralds.

Black Doom: "So, my son has finally got the remaining Emeralds. Now my ritual will come so enough..."

Then Sonic, Tails, Elias, Shadow and Shard (wearing gas masks) got onboard the Comet through Chaos Control and they look around the place.

Sonic: "Man, talk about creepsville..."

Shard: Yeah, certainly an alien environment, though it looks more like one of those things you go into at a circus.

Elias: Stay focused, guys, they could be ready to attack us.

Tails: They'll most likely try and grab the Chaos Emeralds from us, so if they come at us with their weapons blazing, we return the fire.

Sonic: Nice talk there, buddy (he pats his back)

They then hear footsteps. Looking up, they see Axitus, Jasmine, and Black Terror leading several Black Arms across the bridge above them. The heroes frowned at this.

Shadow: What are they up to?

Sonic: Either on their way down here...or gonna get some seats to watch the fight.

Tails: Or something else...

Shard then gotten serious as he could see something moving in the darkness, so he pointed his cannon at the direction he could see it.

Shard: Guys, I've got movement in front of me. Be ready.

They looked that way and began to raise their weapons, only to see Black Doom and Eclipse coming out of the darkness, two Black Oaks following them. Eclipse smirked upon seeing their masks.

Eclipse: Very wise of you to come here wearing those.

Shadow: Enough of the snarky remarks, Eclipse. We've bright you the Emeralds, now where is Rouge!?

Eclipse: (smirks) "Well, she's a bit tied up at the moment."

Shadow: "I'm serious you freak! Where is she?!"

Shadow leap at Eclipse but Black Doom rise his hand, stopping Shadow as he gets a headache.

Shadow: "What the hell?"

Black Doom: "Ha ha ha ha... Pitiful hedgehog, bet you're surprised huh?"

Shadow: "W-What are you d-doing?!"

Black Doom: "You should know that you were created from my blood, like the rest of my kind."

Shadow: You trying to brainwash me? That's a little stupid...you could've done that in the first place!

Black Doom growled as he glares at Shadow.

Black Doom: Careful, my son. I can just have you tear your own head off if I...AGH!!

Doom was knocked back as Shadow glared at him, resisting the brainwash. Eclipse looked unsure, until Black Doom looked at him.

Black Doom: Eclipse, go to the bat...get her ready.

Eclipse: Very well, father.

Eclipse ran back the way he came, with Shadow storming past Black Doom to get after his brother. Elias placed the Emeralds in the bag as he and the others began to get surrounded.

Black Doom: Come, my soldiers. Lay waste to these Mobians and devour their bodies.

Black Doom flew away as the Oaks and troops ran at the four Mobians. Elias and Shard shot the two Oaks in the heads, knocking them over. Sonic spin dashed several Black Arms over the side, while Tails battled several others with his katana, as well as swatting a few with his namesakes.

Sonic: Shadow better take care of that freak! Cause if that guy hurts him badly, I'll take care of him myself!

They continued to fight the Black Arms around them.

With Shadow, he chased Eclipse through a dark tunnel. When he came out the other side, he lost sight of the alien, making him frown. He then looked around and found himself on a silver, purple platform. The hedgehog heard some moaning above him, making him look up and see Rouge, who's screams were muffled due to the webbing.

Shadow: Hold on Rouge!

Shadow began to move, only to feel something clamp around his feet and arms, raising him in the air. Eclipse came out of the darkness and chuckled as he pulled off Shadow's gas mask.

Eclipse: Comfy, brother?

Shadow: "No! I'm not, when I get free, I'll kill you!"

Eclipse: "Cute threats bro, but I'll be the one killing you, when I take your immortality away from you."

Shadow: "What?! You're bluffing!"

Eclipse: (grins) "Oh, I never bluff when I got my enemies in my mercy!"

It was then a pair of clamps clamped on Eclipse's hands and feet, raising him to the air, face to face with Shadow. Rouge screamed again, a fearful look on her face at what Eclipse was doing. The Darkling chuckled as their surroundings glowed a dark purple.

Eclipse: Are you afraid, Shadow the Hedgehog?

Shadow: I-I...

Eclipse: I take that as a yes.

It was then lightning shot around them like an orb, zig zagging and dancing around the brothers. Shadow's eyes widened as he felt something painful run through him. It was like a knife, tearing away hard to reach his heart and take it out. He screamed loudly at the pain, all the way glancing up at Rouge, feeling himself getting weaker and weaker.

Shadow: AGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Eclipse: Oh yes! (He grinned evilly)

Green and red streams shot from Shadow's ankle and hand clamps, going into Eclipse' own. Shadow could feel his immortality being drained from him, being passed into his brother, who's eyes grew brighter but smaller as he grinned, as if he was looming over Shadow. Soon, the streams stopped, and Shadow felt a lot weaker. Eclipse laughed as the clamps released him and Shadow, the latter of whom fell to his knees, a lot of pain tearing through him...he looked up at Eclipse, his ears folding back as the Darkling grabbed his throat, choking him. Shadow was scared.

Shadow: (choking) AGHK!

Eclipse: Heh...this feeling of immortality...oh yes (he grinned as he raised his fist, looking at Shadow) I am the Ultimate Lifeform now brother. So tell me, how does it feel to be a mortal?

Eclipse then slammed his fist into Shadow's face, a spit of blood shooting from Shadow's mouth.

Shadow: "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Eclipse: "Now that I am powerful, I will kill you!"

Eclipse threw Shadow across the room and the Ultimate Lifeform tried to get up, but Eclipse keeps beating him down and laughed evilly.

Eclipse: "What's the matter brother? You gone soft on me?"

Shadow weakly looked at Eclipse, who punched him again and slammed his knee into his gut, winding the dark hedgehog, who fell on his back and clutched his gut. Eclipse stamped on his chest, and Shadow felt a trickle of blood run from his nose and down his cheek. He looked up at Eclipse with a tired, fearful and beaten look on his face. The Darkling crouched beside the hedgehog, smirking.

Shadow: (scared) "J-Just, who are you...?"

Eclipse: As I told you, brother, I am the Ultimate Lifeform. Then again, you never were. You always had a soft heart, deep down, you have too much kindness towards the Mobians and humans. That is not part of being Ultimate. Now that I am the Ultimate Lifeform, I'll blast you into pieces, Mobius will be ours, and that lovely lady of yours shall be my bride (he chuckled)

Shadow groaned as Eclipse raised his fist, ready to give him another punch. But the hedgehog looked up at Rouge, who had a tear run down from one of her eyes. Shadow gritted his teeth and closed his eyes as Eclipse went to punch him...only for Shadow to grab his incoming fist. The Darkling frowned and tried to shove his fist downwards, but Shadow began to push him back, glaring at his brother. He began to sit up, ignoring the pain running through him.

Shadow: You...won't...do that!

Shadow squeezed as hard as he could, and Eclipse screamed as he felt his fist being crushed, green blood shooting out from his hand.

Eclipse: AGHHHHHH!!!

Shadow gave Eclipse an uppercut, making the Darkling back flip away from him. Eclipse landed on his feet, grabbing his bleeding hand. Before he could heal it, Shadow spun dashed into him, ramming him hard into a pillar behind him. Eclipse roared in pain, only for Shadow to jump back and fire a Chaos Spear. Eclipse just dodged, but the spear tore open his stomach. Eclipse screamed in pain, as he tried to heal himself, he feels his body burning.

Eclipse: "W-What's happening to me?!"

Shadow: "It appears you took too much power and it's killing you from the inside out like a poison."

Eclipse: (glares at Shadow) "You! You did this!"

Shadow: "No! You did this to yourself, and now you're paying for it."

Eclipse: W-Why you...ARGGHH!!

Eclipse tries to heal himself more, but more green blood falls from his wounds. Shadow spin dashed into him and rammed him into the wall behind him, before jumping back. The hedgehog watched as the Darkling groaned and fell unconscious...at least it was like that. Shadow panted tiredly and glanced up at Rouge, who smiled under the webbed mask. Shadow smiled up at her, but it was then they heard some groaning. Shadow then gasped as Eclipse, covered in green blood, staggered to his feet, glaring at his brother with hatred burning in his eyes. His hands glowed green and shook violently.

Eclipse: If I...am to die! She...comes with me!

Eclipse then fired a Chaos Spear from his hand, aiming at Rouge, who's eyes widened. Shadow, however, blasted another Chaos Spear in front of Eclipse' own, and both were destroyed as they hit each other. Shadow's eyes then burnt with anger and he snarled as he looked at Eclipse, who was readying another blast. However, Shadow curled into a ball and spin dashed into Eclipse, making his wound bigger and ramming him over the edge of the platform. Shadow then pulled back his hands, which glowed green as he looked into Eclipse's eyes.

Shadow: CHAOS SPEAR!!!

Shadow then slammed his glowing hands hard into Eclipse' stomach wound, and a strong explosion occurred as the Chaos Spear tore through Eclipse, who screamed loudly as it tore him apart.

Eclipse: ARRRGEGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Shadow leapt onto the wall opposite him and ran up it. He glanced back down and saw Eclipse ( or whatever was left of him) fall onto the dark, purple of ooz below, his remains being eaten or drowned by it. Shadow sighed and leapt back onto the platform, before looking up at Rouge.

Shadow: "Rouge, are you okay?"

Rouge nodded as Shadow spindash Rouge's cocoon, freeing her as she fell but Shadow catches her and she hugged Shadow.

Rouge: "Oh Shadow, I thought you were a goner..."

Shadow: I thought you were a goner too, Rouge...I'm so sorry of what Eclipse tried to do...

Rouge smoothed his cheek lovingly and smiled.

Rouge: Don't blame yourself, handsome. I'm happy to be in your arms.

Shadow: I'm glad you are. (he smiled)

They both stared at each other, then Shadow pulled Rouge into a deep passionate kiss, holding her closely to him as they wrapped their arms around each other.

Shadow: Mmmmm.

Rouge: Mmmmmm.

While they kissed, Sonic and his group came by, having defeated the Black Arms they fought earlier. They smiled at the sight.

Sonic: "Glad you two are reunited."

Shard: "Now, all we have to do is bring down Black Doom and we're home free."

Then they hear evil laughter echoing in the cave.

Black Doom: (voice) "You think you can defeat me?!"

Shadow: "Black Doom! I've killed Eclipse, but I will kill you!"

Black Doom: "You're a fool Shadow. Now I have all the Chaos Emeralds, the ritual will begin! Chaos Control!"

Then they feel the Comet shaking, outside the Black Comet warped itself out of space and reappeared at the ruined Central City where the Comet attached roots to the ground.

Those fighting outside GUN HQ gasped at the sight of the comet, which began to release more and more Black Arms to battle the Mobians and humans.

Inside the comet, Black Doom chuckled as he looked down at the heroes, all of whom were stunned at what Black Doom done.

Black Doom: With the comet now on your planet's surface, the world shall receive treatment from the nerve gas I shall unleash. While a few of you may have gas masks, your friends shall be standing still and be devoured by my offspring...though the strongest of your race shall be brilliant slaves for my empire! Hehahahahaha!!!

Black Doom then teleported away, taking the Chaos Emeralds with him. Shadow growled and clenched his fists, only for Rouge to hold his hand and look at him.

Rouge: Are you gonna be okay fighting him?

Shadow: I will, Rouge, though I'll be careful since I'm no longer immortal. Sonic, you and your friends get her out of here and get to safety. I'll rip that monster apart.

Sonic: Do your stuff, Shadow.

Tails: Go teach him a lesson.

Rouge: And be careful.

She leaned into him and kissed his cheek. Shadow blushed but smiled, giving her a small hug.

Shadow: I shall. See you soon, Rouge.
